Mrs. Scala was not only my 7th grade science teacher, but I also has the blessing of being able to call her my Godmother as I asked her to sponsor me in my Confirmation. Mrs. Scala made such an impact on my life, not only as a student, but as a person. She ran a tight ship and this forced me to work hard and truly earn the knowledge that she shared with her students. I am not the type of person who is great with science but it speaks incredible volumes about Mrs. Scala that I can still recall the majority of what she taught me in 7th grade. Despite the challenging course work, Mrs. Scala created a loving environment where I felt welcomed to class each and everyday and came excited to learn. Even as I moved up to 8th grade, Mrs. Scala was my go to person, the shoulder I could cry on, and the person I looked to for guidance. She had so much love for all of her students and would go to any extent to make sure they were happy, comfortable, and cared for in school. Mrs. Scala became a role model to me and when it came time for me to take the next step in my religious journey and get Confirmed, she became the obvious choice to be my sponsor and Godmother. Mrs. Scala was a lot more to me than just a teacher, she is my Godmother and role model and I cannot wait to follow in her footsteps and become a teacher as well. She touched the hearts and minds of many and will continue to do so. As I take the next steps in my educational journey, I will take a piece of Mrs. Scala with me and present my future students with the same love, compassion, and knowledge that Mrs. Scala showed her students. I can only dream of being half of the teacher that Mrs. Scala was, but I hope to take after her in every aspect. I am truly blessed to have gotten the opportunity to call Mrs. Scala my Godmother and have her as a part of my life. I will miss her always but I will remember her in everything I do. My condolences go out to her whole family and may she rest in peace always.

I was so saddened to hear about Roxanne’s illness. The community will miss her. As a former teacher in Wayne, I was blessed to be on Schuyler Colfax’s Site Based Committee and a member who interviewed Roxanne; I knew within a few minutes of meeting her, that Roxanne would become a treasured colleague. Roxanne placed her hand on many student’s hearts and presented herself as a true mentor to so many. My prayers are with her family.

Roxanne was my husband's sister-in-law and friend, she became my dear friend and she was a loving Aunt to our children, Nicole and Michael. Roxanne won my heart when she stepped in and took care of our Michael as an infant while I lie critically ill in the hospital following Michael's birth. She continued a strong bond with our family and I was in awe of her committment to her family, friends and the students she taught. Most recently she adopted Michael as her senior to "adopt" for Wayne Hills High School during the pandemic. Roxanne and Al would be at our house once if not twice a week with goodies and hand crafted items to send Michael off to Manhattan during the pandemic. Her attention to detail was amazing. She will be eternally missed, there will be no other Rox

When I think of Roxanne I will always think of plaid skirts, penny loafers, and a smile. She was part of my life when I was in high school and was always nice to everyone. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news that she had passed away having never heard that she was not well. Her husband Al Scala and her family will be in my thoughts along with many nice memories.

Mrs. Scala was my science teacher more than 15 years ago during a year when my mom was battling cancer Mrs. Scala made sure I knew I was smart and had great potential and she was supportive and kind. She was always making our class fun and I greatly enjoyed her scrapbooking club as well. She really took the time for all of us. Today I am a social worker in a school; I credit teachers like her with guiding me along the way as I found this career path. May she rest peacefully, I am grateful to have had her as my teacher, and wish the Scala family peace during this time. Her memory is truly a blessing.

Mrs. Scala was my seventh grade science teacher. The impact she had on my education and my life was profound. Not only was Mrs. Scala brilliant, and an incredible educator, but she was the kindest, and most genuine person. Mrs. Scala never failed to believe in her students, myself included. I’m forever thankful for everything she did, and everything she was. She has inspired me, as I hope to be as amazing as an educator as she was. May you Rest In Peace, Mrs. Scala, you will be missed.

Dearest Al and family,
Frank and I are deeply saddened at the untimely passing of our dear friend Roxanne. She was a vibrant person, so kind and caring and loving. As a teacher she was a true professional who was passionate about teaching and learning and went the extra mile for her students. Her dreams of the many miles she had yet to go were sadly cut short. Rox you fought the good fight and gave it your all. Now our Heavenly Father has called you to His Heavenly Kingdom where you will be the Guardian Angel for Al and your family and all of us who love you and will forever hold you in our hearts and prayers.
Frank and Joann Ranalletti ❤️
